‘Remember you are dust…’

Ash WednesdayAsh Wednesday is February 10. As we turn our attention to the start of the holy season of Lent, we receive ashes on our foreheads as a reminder of our need for repentance. For your convenience, ashes will be distributed at five liturgies on Ash Wednesday.

  • 7:30 am (Fr. Tony)
  • 9:15 am (All-School Liturgy with Fr. Chris)
  • 12:00 pm (Fr. Thom)
  • 5:00 pm (Fr. Thom)
  • 7:15 pm (Edge PSR students at Mass, with Fr. Chris)
  • All are welcome at every Mass; pews will be reserved at the front of the church for the school and PSR students at those liturgies.

The day before Ash Wednesday is Mardi Gras, or “Fat Tuesday.” In the school, our students will celebrate with carnival games and prizes in the Xavier Room, organized and led by the student council. At 2:15 p.m., the entire school will gather in the church to “bury the Alleluia” — symbolically putting away this joyous word that we don’t use again until Easter. A long banner with the word will be folded and put inside a trunk until after Jesus rises on Easter.

“Repent, and believe in the Gospel!”
