Our first Parish Day of Service on May 23, 2015, was a great success! We had about 275 parishioners who made time to be of service throughout the Medina community, scraping and painting, removing wallpaper, trimming bushes, raking leaves, cleaning toys, building and filling a sandbox, washing tables and chairs in the school lunchroom, picking up trash, sweeping out cabins at Camp Paradise, visiting with the elderly in nursing homes and much, much more. To top it all off, it was a beautiful day — low 70s and sunny!
After our service work, we returned for 5 p.m. Mass, followed by a pizza and salad dinner in the church basement, where there were many happy hearts full of love for the people they served and new friends made!
This 12-minute video shows some of the great work and big smiles from the day!
A very special thanks to the committee that helped plan the day — including Liz Barr, Ann Estremera, Joan Horwitz, Ellen Snow, Chris Strong and Joanne Weiler — plus our sponsors: Sportsworld; Ed Bugner, CPA; Knights of Columbus; State Farm agent Keith Wright; Sweet Lawns; and one anonymous donor, whose generosity helped offset our costs.
