Faith and Service to Others

At St. Francis Xavier School, we promote faith formation and spiritual, nurtured growth. Our educational program provides for spiritual growth in a friendly, open atmosphere to further develop our minds and souls. Religion classes are held daily for all of our students in preschool through grade 8. Students in kindergarten through grade 8 attend mass each Friday and on Holy Days.

Students in grades 3 – 8 are given the opportunity during Advent and Lent to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation. The sacraments of Reconciliation and First Eucharist are received for the first time with our second grade students. The preparation to receive these gifts are woven throughout the school year and with our parish community program

Students have the opportunity to plan, participate and attend liturgies and prayer services that relate to their studies, seasonal celebrations, or school events. The spirit of prayer throughout the school and classrooms along with the participation in activities of service to others are promoted with our Catholic Identity goal.

Our favorite traditional liturgies:

Kindergarten – Reciting the Thank You Prayer at our Thanksgiving Prayer Service and reciting the Lovely Lady Poem at May Crowning
First Grade – Special Advent Prayer Service and play
Second Grade – Grandparents Day and Blessing of the Rosaries Prayer Service
Third Grade – All Saints’ Day Liturgy
Fourth Grade – Ash Wednesday Liturgy
Fifth Grade – Living Rosary Prayer Service
Sixth Grade – Living Stations of the Cross Prayer Service
Seventh Grade – Veterans’ Day Prayer Service
Eighth Grade – May Crowning

Service Programs

Students learn a love of serving one another through a variety of different ways. Our parish and school teaches us to be CHRIST LIKE for each other in our school/parish community, or for charitable organizations in the outside community such as:

  • St. Vincent De Paul Thanksgiving food collection
  • Middle School Service Projects
  • Birthcare
  • Catholic Relief Service – Lenten Mission Boxes
  • Fifth Grade School Supply Store
  • Race with Grace
  • Poppy Sales for Veterans
  • Student Council Food Bank
  • St. Francis Xavier Community Service Days

We will continue to implement the school’s common aspiration for respect for others, respect for yourself and most importantly respect for God.
