Vacation Bible School welcomes children to SonTreasure Island

More than 150 students have docked at SonTreasure Island, where they are learning each day about God’s love through Bible stories, crafts, songs and island fun.

They were greeted the first day by Father Thom, dressed in his best Gilligan’s Island apparel, hanging out in a hammock just inside the door. Later, they met “Deanna” and “Gina” (aka VBS directors Sue Rohe-Brooks and Paulette Kerns) who were making their way around the island. They all sang and danced to new songs, made crafts and memorized Bible verses based on 1 Corinthians 13.

Day 1 focused on “God’s Love is Giving,” and the children studied how God gave us Jesus. Day 2 centered on “God’s Love is Kind,” and they learned about how Jesus helped a young girl and a sick woman. Day 3 will be all about “God’s Love is Caring,” as they study how Jesus cared for a Samaritan woman. Day 4 includes the story of Jesus and Zacchaeus as the children learn “God’s Love is Forgiving.” Finally, Day 5 we learn how Jesus lives — and “God’s Love” are — “Forever.”

The kids are having a great time. Thanks to all of the adult and teen volunteers who are making it possible!
