Heart failure education series offered
More than 6 million people in the United States are diagnosed with congestive heart failure, and it’s the leading cause of hospitalization for people 65 and older.
That’s why St. Francis Xavier is partnering with the Cleveland Clinic Medina Hospital, two other Medina churches — Second Baptist Church and Fellowship Baptist Church — to present information that may help you understand and manage this serious health condition, for yourself or a loved one.
- Monday, Oct. 7, 6 to 7 p.m., Second Baptist Church, 451 Bronson St., Medina
- Monday, Oct. 14, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., St. Francis Xavier Church (Xavier Room), 612 E. Washington St., Medina
- Monday, Oct. 21, 6 to 7 p.m., Second Baptist Church, 451 Bronson St., Medina

Congestive heart failure, or heart failure, is a long-term condition in which your heart can’t pump blood well enough to meet your body’s needs. Your heart is still working. But because it can’t handle the amount of blood it should, blood builds up in other parts of your body. Most of the time, it collects in your lungs, legs and feet.
Each week, for four weeks, medical specialists will be on hand to discuss various topics related to heart health, ranging from a cardiologist and pharmacists, to a nurse practitioner in the congestive heart failure clinic, and a registered dietitian. The program is free, but registration is required. Light snacks and refreshments will be offered.
