Celebrate our Feast Day with concert, reception
St. Francis Xavier Parish will present “Illuminare” by Elaine Hagenberg, as part of our annual Feast Day Concert, at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 24. The program is free of charge and open to the public.
“Illuminare” is an extended work scored for chorus and orchestra, with texts drawn from Sacred Scripture as well as the writings of saints Ambrose, Hildegard von Bingen and Pope Gregory. According to the composer, “the piece takes us through a season of beauty and goodness that has been disrupted by darkness and confusion. But as Light gradually returns, hope is restored, illuminating our future and guiding us in peace.”
Join us after the performance for hors d’oeuvres in our church basement social hall!
No reservations are needed.
Chorus members include singers from around Medina County — all coming together in a display of unity to be a source of light for our community.
Members represent the following Medina County churches and community organizations: Holy Martyrs, Medina Chorus, Medina United Methodist, Medina United Church of Christ Congregational, Saint Francis Xavier, Saint Martin of Tours and Trinity United Church of Christ.
This performance, held in our church on the Feast of Christ the King, will prepare listeners for the coming Advent season, and provide a backdrop for meditation on Christ, the Light of the World, and his return in glory.
