The students take over for Jan. 31 Catholic Schools Week Mass

Comment are off

Move over, adults: The students are taking your jobs for the 12 p.m. Mass on Jan. 31. We’re kicking off Catholic Schools Week, and students from St. Francis Xavier School will be serving as readers, ushers and even live-streaming the Mass to families at home watching on YouTube. Our celebrant will be Father Tony Sejba, our pastor.

After Mass, those who may have an interest in our school are invited to join us online for our New Family Virtual Open House on our school website and on social media.

The decision of where your child will attend school is one of the most important decisions you will make for them. At St. Francis Xavier School, our mission is to journey together with family, church, and community, and to provide a quality education focused on faith, academics, and service to influence an ever-changing world.

All of our teachers, staff and students are excited about the upcoming Catholic School Week (Jan. 31-Feb. 6) as we celebrate our faith, excellence, and service.  It has been a tradition in our school to have a fun faith-filled week of events. Our Catholic Schools Committee has been extremely creative this year.

  • Monday – Show Community Spirit Dress Down and Toy Drive. We will be collecting gently used and new toys to donate to RePlay For Kids, a nonprofit organization of volunteers who repair and adapt toys and assistive devices for children with disabilities in Northeast Ohio. They accept battery-operated toys only, however they can be new or gently used. They will repair the toys and give them different types of switches to meet the needs of kids with all types of disabilities.
  • Tuesday – Our focus turns to our students, who get a full dress-down day. They’ll also get to appreciate each other’s gifts by viewing our Talent Show Video.
  • Wednesday – We focus on our nation, as students may wear red, white and blue in “dress-down” fashion. Each classroom will pray the rosary and write letters to troops.
  • Thursday – We show our appreciation for faculty and staff by allowing students to dress as their favorite staff member and celebrate an all-school Mass.
  • Friday – We pray for vocations this day, and our students are invited to dress as their favorite saint or character from the Bible.
