Reverse Advent Calendar counts down days to Christmas

Comment are off

Does your family have a tradition of using an Advent Calendar to count down the days until Christmas? Typically, there are small trinkets or pieces of candy behind each door for the lucky child who opens it. But, shouldn’t this season be about helping others? Try this unique spin on the tradition by shifting the focus to giving.

Our Reverse Advent Calendar project invites people to select a box to keep in their home. Decorate it for the holiday if you wish! Then, beginning Dec. 1, each day add to the box the item indicated on the calendar. After Christmas, bring the box to Mass on Jan. 6 or 7, and place on the marked tables inside the Washington Street/Route 18 entrance. Or, bring to Sunday School, PSR or Edge class that week. All items will be donated to replenish the St. Vincent de Paul food pantry. Anyone can participate!

If you have any questions please email or call Summer Kish, director of religious education, at skish@sfxmedina.org or 330-764-8961. Additional calendars are available at the parish office, the vestibules, or click on the image at left.

Thank you for your support and generosity!
