Plans for Mass on July 4 & 5

Comment are off

This weekend we will continue celebrating First Communions, as 14 children will receive Our Lord for the first time at 10 a.m. this Sunday at St. Francis Xavier. (We also will have our 5 p.m. Mass Saturday, July 4.) We pray for these little ones and their families as they join us at the table of the Lord. Another 54 children will receive their First Holy Communion over the next two weeks.

We have been blessed with 5 weekends of outdoor Mass celebrations, with only one Mass being moved indoors due to the threat of inclement weather. The outdoor Mass affords us plenty of seating for our parishioners and visitors. This weekend, the weather looks good so we again plan to celebrate outdoors, and both Masses will be livestreamed on our YouTube channel,

If an outdoor Mass is canceled, the notification will be posted on our website (sfxmedina.com), on our Facebook page, on a large sign in front of St. Francis School, and a message will be on our weather line 330-764-8970. We will also send out another update to all those who’ve joined our Parish News Flocknote group.

Seating will be very limited room in church, due to the First Communions, but there are 2 additional options:

  • Park at St. Francis Xavier and listen to Mass on your car radio (101.5 FM); receive Holy Communion during the Communion Rite under the school overhang
  • Watch Mass on our YouTube channel at home, then drive to SFX afterward to receive Holy Communion beginning 15 minutes following the end of Mass (to give those in church time to exit)

Those who would like to celebrate Mass in church (if outdoor Mass is canceled) may line up at the Spring Grove entrance at 6-foot intervals, wearing a face mask. The door will be unlocked 30 minutes prior to Mass until capacity is reached. Ushers will seat people according to the new protocols. Again, seating is VERY limited this weekend.

Thank you for your understanding and patience while we work this all out!
